McMullen joined the town staff on April 12, 2004. His duties include supervising the DPW and handling building permit and certificate of occupancy requests, and code enforcement.

He also works with the Board of Adjustment and Planning & Zoning Commission on variance requests and zoning matters.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mr. McMullen was a member of the Philadelphia Police Department for 28 years. Upon retiring, he came to Bethany Beach to join his wife and children, who had moved there a few years prior to his retirement.
